Achievement Day at the Rosario Festival
Students of all ages and levels will be excited to know that they can participate in the Rosario Festival in a non-competitive event called Achievement Day at the Rosario Festival. Outstanding area teachers in all fields of guitar study will be selected to hear students perform pieces, technical studies and sight-read materials that are appropriate for their age and level.
Categories include:
Students beginning to play the classical guitar repertoireAdvanced guitarists seeking an opportunity to perform
Guitarists who improvise over jazz/blues standards and want to play for an expert
Beginning students who can read simple melodies and/or chords
Guitarists of all levels are welcome. Students will receive positive and encouraging comments that will help them to achieve their goals in music while connecting with other outstanding guitarists and teachers in the area. They will also receive a certificate.
Achievement Day at the Rosario Festival will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the USC School of Music (Located on Assembly St. next to the Koger Center for the Arts in downtown Columbia) from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
All styles and ensembles (Classical, Jazz and Other) are welcome. Achievement Day participants are invited to attend the Saturday night performance at the festival for free. They are also welcome to participate the Rosario Festival Guitar Orchestra concert on Sunday, May 16 (rehearsal is on Saturday, May 15). Go here to download an application.
